Unlimited virtual adventures do not just work their magic in the living room; they also cast a spell on visitors at trade fairs, conferences, product presentations and similar corporate events. Take Gamescom, for example: As part of the world’s largest show for computer and video games, Blue Wheels Veranstaltungstechnik GmbH was responsible for the media orchestration of the trade fair appearance on behalf of Walbert-Schmitz.

Blue Wheels was responsible for the entire media technology, lighting, sound, stage construction and rigging at the stand, which took up almost the entire hall. At the 3,500 square metre stand, there was an exciting gaming arena with 500 gaming stations to transport the gaming fans to thrilling virtual worlds with innovative media, IT and event technology.

The equipment supplied by Blue Wheels Veranstaltungstechnik GmbH weighed around 120 tonnes and was transported with fifteen 40-tonne lorries from Essen to Cologne. At the Activision Blizzard stand, a 130 square metre LED canvas with 3.5mm pixel distance, 53 LCD displays measuring 40 to 95 inches, 45 loudspeakers, 16 high-end video projectors, and 750 spotlights were used, amongst other pieces of equipment. For the network, the Blue
Wheels staff laid two kilometres of fibreglass cable, and another seven kilometres of power cables and two kilometres of truss beams were brought along for the US-based customer. Blue Wheels managing director Sven Robusch said, “It was a powerful presentation where we put our skills in the implementation of such vast projects to the test once again.”
